Based in the heart of Preston, Lancashire, Contract Ecology and Landscapes now employs three dedicated project ecologists assisted by a select framework of accredited associates all of whom are members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and are committed to the Institute's Code of Professional Conduct. 

Oonagh Nelson BSc (Hons) MIEEM
Contract Ecology and Landscapes was established in 2006 and is owned and managed by professional ecologist Oonagh Nelson MIEEM.  Post graduation from the University of Central Lancashire, Oonagh has embarked on an industrious career in which she has gained a vast catalogue of market experience with Lancashire County Council Ecology Service, United Utilities Plc Commercial Contracts Team and several northwest based environmental consultancy practices. She is a holder of a Natural England great crested newt survey licence, Countryside Council for Wales great crested newt survey licence, Natural England Barn Owl survey licence and DEFRA great crested newt mitigation licence. 

Ley Hodgson BA (Hons) Affiliate Member of IEEM
Ley is an experienced field ecologist. Having developed a childhood interest in all things natural, professionally she has over 3 years experience in ecological consultancy, previously working for consultancies in Lancashire before joining CEL in 2006. 

Ley has extensive experience of baseline surveys for great crested newts, common lizards, barn owls, bats and water voles. She has also undertaken recent professional training in white-clawed crayfish and is a Natural England Barn Owl survey licence holder.

Ley is also a nationally qualified youth worker with a passion for environmental education and community engagement schemes.  She is a member of her local bat group and the Amphibian and Reptile group for South Lancashire.

Martyn Barnes BSc (Hons) Graduate Member of IEEM
Martyn joined CEL in 2007 having graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with an Honours degree in Conservation and Land Management.  Martyn has since developed an excellent understanding and working knowledge of British wildlife legislation and practical ecology whilst working for a local Amphibian and Reptile group and CEL.  With a special interest in British Reptiles, Martyn has worked extensively for CEL on the large-scale mitigation of viviparous lizards at the Former ICI Plant in Thornton Lancashire.  He has also been involved in surveying a range of protected species and habitats for a new road network, business park, residential development and farm expansion scheme.
