CEL were commissioned by Waste 2 Resources LLP to undertake an intensive programme of common lizard capture at the former ICI chemical plant in Thornton, Lancashire. Works included removal of supporting habitat throughout the 40 acre site, the supply and installation of reptile exclusion fencing and the design and construction of suitable new hibernacula for the translocated reptiles at a nearby nature reserve owned and managed by Lancashire County Council. The translocation of species is complete at the site and monitoring of the population will continue until 2010.
