CEL were commissioned by Staveley’s Eggs Ltd to undertake a great crested newt survey in preparation of a planning submission to extend their organic farm operations at their headquarters in Coppull, Lancashire. Confirmation of species presence led to the design and submission of a DEFRA mitigation method statement. Upon approval and issuing of a Conservation (Natural Habitats, &c.) Regs licence, CEL supplied and installed 1000m temporary amphibian exclusion fencing and undertook an extensive capture and exclusion programme. Additional habitat design and creation works were instated at the site and monitoring of species post translocation is in progress.
